The ZenFone 5 and the ZenFone 5Z are expected to hit the Indian shores in the coming months. And Asus is proud that their notch is smaller than the one present on the iPhone X. The display comes with curved edges, and the rear dual camera is also placed similarly as the iPhone X.
You'd be forgiven for mistaking the ZenFone 5Z for an iPhone X at first glance, though the 5Z's panel is LCD instead of OLED.
The Zenfone 5 comes with 6GB RAM and a Snapdragon 636. The ZenFone 5Z is made out of metal and glass, and as far as the design is concerned, this phone is identical to the ZenFone 5. The second smartphone from Asus under the Zenfone 5 series is Asus Zenfone 5z.
The ZenFone 5Z has a 19:9 aspect ratio, a smidge lower than the iPhone X's 19.5:9 aspect ratio.
Do you loathe Apple but secretly adore the iPhone X? Now whether or not this will be the Asus Zenfone 5 Lite is something which remains to be seen. The ZenFone 5Z has 8GB RAM and 256GB of internal storage for the best performance while the ZenFone 5 slightly cuts it down to 6GB RAM and 64GB Storage. At the launch event, Asus had just revealed the price of the 4GB RAM of the ZenFone 5Z which comes around Euro 479, roughly translating to Rs 38,400.
Asus Zenfone 5 features a dual-rear camera setup. Asus has also offered Face Unlock feature via its front camera. There is an 8MP front-facing camera with f/2.0 aperture, Beauty, Auto, and Selfie Panorama. The front-facing camera is of 8-megapixel with f/2.0 aperture and 84-degree field of view for wider selfies. The chipset on the ZenFone 5Z comes with the 3 generation AI platform that has the Hexagon 685 Vector DSP and Adreno 630 Graphics and the Kryo 385 architecture GPU. The latter gives you the option to record 4K videos with the main rear camera and you also get support for the 5 GHz Wi-Fi band, whereas if you go with the SD430 you're limited to 1080p and 2.4GHz. This camera comes with facial recognition tech so you won't need to unlock your phone with a PIN or fingerprint scan. The stars of the show - Zenfone 5 and Zenfone 5S - received mixed reactions and yes, a lot of iPhone X-clone labels. The OS as well as the processor are quite efficient, both of which make the most out of the 3300mAh battery unit fitted inside the phone.
There's no word yet on the pricing for the Zenfone by but expect it to be cheaper than the Zenfone 5.
There is, of course, the ZenFone 5's color adjustment feature. The secondary 8-megapixel sensor is coupled with a 120-degree wide-angle lens.
Both models pack a 6.2in Full HD+ display, which ASUS claims to have squeezed into a 5.5in body size. It runs Android Nougat-based ZenUI 4.0.
A big focus was on the cameras and this has a 4 camera set up with two cameras on the back - a 12MP f/1.8 main camera and a 120-degree wide-angle secondary lens, which you can use when you want to fit more in a shot.
