Governor Tathagata Roy administered the oath of office and secrecy to the 48-year-old Deb, followed by Deb Burman, Narendra Chandra Debbarma of the Indigenous People's Front of Tripura, Ratan Lal Nath, Sudip Roy Barman, Pranjit Singha Roy, Manoj Kanti Deb, Mevar Kumar Jamatia (IPFT) and Santana Chakma.
The swearing-in ceremony was attended by the likes of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, BJP National President Amit Shah, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh and other BJP leaders. Speaking to the Left Front leaders, Modi said that there long experience in running the government in the state can guide the newly-formed inexperienced one. "These people lived there for 25 years and have been political murderers...", he said, according to ANI. Deodhar along with Deb managed to win more than two-third seats in Tripura assembly.
On the last day of campaigning, the CPI-M-led Left Front on Saturday withdrew its candidate from the Charilam assembly constituency claiming "extremely bad situation" in the tribal dominated areas of Tripura "due to massive reign of terror" by the BJP.
