The women's basketball team was rewarded for its outstanding 2017-18 season with an at-large selection to the NCAA Tournament during a live selection show on ESPN Monday night. Redshirt junior guard Macy Miller leads a high-powered South Dakota State offense which is averaging 78.3 points per game.
South Dakota State, led by second-year head coach T.J. Otzelberger, won the Summit League regular-season and tournament championships and enter the NCAA Tournament with a 28-6 record.
The Buckeyes will begin their tournament run with a match-up vs. the Jackrabbits of South Dakota State on Thursday at 4 p.m. Villanova was previously a No. 8 seed when it last made the tournament five seasons ago. They were upset by Penn State in their opening game of the Big Ten Tournament. Mike Daum led the Jackrabbits by averaging a double-double per game with 23.8 points and 10.4 rebounds per game while Brandon Key led South Dakota State in assists with 3.3 assists per game this season.
It'll be the first time Tech will make back-to-back appearances in the NCAA tournament since the 1985 and '86 seasons.

First and second round games are March 15 and 16.
The Final Four is in Columbus, Ohio, March 30 and April 1.
If Ohio State were to advance past South Dakota State, they will face the victor between Gonzaga, the 4-seed, and 13th-seeded UNC-Greensboro.
