The film is released July 6 in the US and August 3 in the UK. The film is a sequel to the 2015 origins story of "Ant-Man", that ending up making more than $500 million domestically. Ant-Man's absence then from the Infinity War points at what could be an important thread in the upcoming Ant-Man and the Wasp. Again, skirting spoilers, it's somewhat unlikely that this movie takes place after the events of Infinity War, but maybe we'll just have to wait for the next trailer to get some sort of idea of the timeline we're looking at. The previous global opening record was "The Fate of the Furious" at $541.9 million.
In the released teaser video that promises the release of a brand new trailer of "Ant-Man 2, " actress Scarlett Johansson appears on the screen and questions aloud, "Where were Ant-Man and #the wasp?"
The pint-size hero played by Paul Rudd was mysteriously absent from "Infinity War", which scored the biggest box office opening of all time over the weekend, but he's back with a new teammate, the Wasp (Evangeline Lilly). Starring alongside Rudd and Lilly are Michael Pena, Walton Goggins, Bobby Cannavale, Judy Greer, Tip "T.I". It's confusing. Let's discuss. Hank Pym and his daughter Hope van Dyne team up with Scott Lang to take on a new, weird, phasing sort of evil. As screenwriters Christopher Markus revealed to The Hollywood Reporter's Heat Vision, "Ant-Man, the franchise, is very light-hearted".
Suiting up for the first time, Wasp steals the show in the new sneak peek, getting some of the most impressive action moments and one-liners as she and Scott try and figure out how to best work with each other. And if you were sleeping on this movie, this trailer will wake you right up.
Hell, people are already tweeting entire plot spoilers for Infinity War, and that's not even been out a week yet. The highly-anticipated sequel will land in theaters on July 6, 2018.
