Eventually, Musk wants the system to connect cities, such as LA and San Fransisco, with pods that can travel up to 760 miles per hour.
According to the city, the proposed tunnel would begin with the entry/exit point at 2352-6 Sepulveda Boulevard, north of West Pico Boulevard, in West Los Angeles. Much of what Musk discussed about how his concept in-city Loop would work has been answered in concept videos and the company's FAQ, but he specifically said that the plan is for rides that cost a $1, and carry up to 16 passengers through hundreds of tunnels to those small, parking space-size tunnels located throughout a city.
Musk stated that his tunneling project would be built well under the existing metro lines and the city's utilities using electronic equipment from Boring Company. "It wouldn't be possible to have a subway tunnel in L.A., which a lot of people do not realize exists, but there is a subway in L.A.", Musk said. In addition, local neighborhood groups are suing the city over the company's plans.
Passengers would travel at high speeds on pods attached to autonomous skates that are affixed to a track 30 feet under ground. However, the company is also facing rising costs, especially as it endeavours to match Elon's vision of creating a tunnelling system that can dig tunnels 15 times faster than current machines, at a tenth of the cost.

It would turn a almost 15-hour flight from Shanghai to NY on a conventional airliner into just a 39-minute trip.
The biggest challenge, however, is digging the tunnel network. As promised by Musk, a trip from downtown LA to the airport and Dodger stadium will clock 8 minutes, and of course for $1 per head. As part of its payload the Falcon Heavy is carrying Musk's cherry red Roadster from Tesla, his electric vehicle company.
The plan calls for excavated soil to be compacted into concrete reinforcement segments for the tunnels, or turned into construction bricks. The whole tunnel will be privately funded and will not be used for public transportation, the company said.
"If you concentrate on it, if I can do that journey in about half-an-hour to an hour, I can do dozens of those a day and but a long-haul plane can exclusively make a type of flights a day", she informed the viewers.
