They were sentenced to prison in a case that has horrified the country.
A German court handed down lengthy jail sentences to Berrin Taha (held by policeman) and her husband Christian Lais (sitting left) for pimping their son online.
The mother of the boy, Berrin T., 48, and her partner Christian L., 39, will serve twelve-and-a-half-year and twelve-year prison sentences respectively for selling Berrin's son on the area of the internet that can not be accessed by search engines.
"A Spanish national received a 10-year prison sentence on Monday after admitting that he had raped the boy on at least 15 occasions and had paid the mother and her partner more than 10,000 euros", DPA reported. The abuse was filmed.
The twisted pair and six others were part of a pedophile ring that was busted past year following an anonymous tip.
The perpetrators - identified only as 48-year-old Berrin T. and 39-year-old Christian L. - have admitted to the crimes, including to selling the boy for sex acts to multiple men over the course of two years.
In the following months, the court said, the woman organized assaults on a 2-year-old girl she occasionally looked after.
Freiburg police chief Peter Egetemaier said that the investigation into the couple had led them to around 20 other people who are now under investigation for child sexual abuse based on confiscated images and video footage.
The mother was often near the scene of the abuse by other men "to exert a calming influence on her child", and in the case of one client participated herself, the court said.
They also were ordered to pay $49,200 in damages to the boy and a 3-year-old girl whom they also abused.
Local authorities in Germany have been accused of failing to protect the boy, who now lives with a foster family.
Christian was supposed to be barred from having contact with children and the boy was removed from the couple's custody in March 2017.
