Apple will hold its next event on September 12 at Steve Jobs Theater in Cupertino, Cali. according to invites sent out Thursday morning. The new iPhone is expected to in fact be three devices: an iPhone X 2018, replacing and upgrading the current iPhone X flagship, launched past year, but also a larger version.
And since the event invitation significantly used the colour gold, it fuels speculation that the company plans to launch a gold-coloured successor to the premium iPhone X, which was only available in silver and grey past year.
Documents filed at the US Federal Communications Commission uncovered earlier this year showed Apple had sought approval of a gold iPhone X but had never released the version. The iPad Pro models in this series have been said to come with features which will make them appear like the iPhone X. There are going to be two variants to these iPads, one with 12.9-inch and the other with an 11.9-inch screen. Since the event starts at 10AM local time, which means roughly 10:30PM IST, we'll keep you updated about all that will happen.
Such a major design change could shock users (a lot of them, since 70% of all new iPhone buyers will reportedly upgrade over the next year). Borrowing design elements from the iPhone, the Series 4 is expected to arrive with an "edge-to-edge" display with minimal bezels and up to 15 percent bigger displays compared to last year's Apple Watch Series 3.
A larger 6.5-inch iPhone X Plus. The company is still riding high on the all-screen iPhone X it revealed past year.
At least some of those iPhones are expected to come in a wider range of color, which could include bright shades like blue and red for the lower-cost LCD iPhone. In 2013, Apple launched the iPhone 5c, which was essentially an iPhone 5 in plastic casing. Instead of an iPhone 7s, it jumped straight to an iPhone 8 and an iPhone X (for the number ten, not the letter).
Apple is expected to announce a new, bigger Apple Watch during its upcoming event next month. There's also been chatter of a new iPad Pro, for instance, and indeed refreshes elsewhere in Apple's hardware line-up.
