Watson, as a rookie previous year, made six starts for the Texans with 19 touchdown passes.
The key to being successful this year is simple. "That's where my focus is - I know we want to often times talk about a lot of other things, but I just really want to stick to football". "Be me. That's it". It isn't an ordinary season opener.
He made six starts after that and finished with 1,699 yards passing and 19 touchdowns before tearing the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee in practice in early November. Watson, who was the 12th overall pick in last year's draft, threw for 301 yards and two touchdowns, but what he remembers most about that game are the two interceptions he threw.
"We work together", Brady said. "Left too much time for Tom Brady. That was pretty much it".
Bill O'Brien and Romeo Crennel have both coached under Bill Belichick. Brady had stressed the importance of getting off to a good start and that foundation is built at OTA's. You can also download the CBS app to use All Access, or watch the games on CBS.com in more than 150 markets across the U.S.
A three-time victor of the NFL Defensive Player of the Year award, Watt returns to action after being limited to just eight appearances over the past two seasons by back and leg injuries. There were rumblings when backup/presumed heir apparent Jimmy Garoppolo was traded and, clearly, there was disgruntlement of some sort between Brady and Belichick, with owner Robert Kraft intervening after the season.
"I've realized there's people that doubt the best players in the history of the game", he said. And it was in this episode that Brady once again hammered a simple point home: If he continues to try and play at an elite level for the foreseeable future, it's going to be because he's also enjoying what he's doing for a living. He would study tape. I'm talking about the down and dirty, hard-hitting, need-to-know-basis questions that beat reporters can't even get answers to. And until you get them into the game and [they] take some hits and they have to plant and make sharp turns and all of those kinds of things, you don't know if they're really back.
Some pundits are not as bullish on Watson this season, as they believe Watson's insane success last season is not sustainable. But he's stopped worrying about stuff like that now that he's approaching 30 years old. "I'm very excited. I'm sure there are a lot of people who are cautiously optimistic".
"It's strength against strength, as the Cowboys rush offense goes against a Carolina rush defense that was number three in the league a year ago".
Injuries have limited Watt to only eight games over the last two seasons, but the three-time NFL Defensive Player of the Year is back healthy this year, and his confidence level is spilling over into interview with the media.
"(I) don't worry about it", he said.
