Fortnite's Halloween-themed update introduces a new item called Shadow Stones. The theme brings a number of map changes including a floating island where Loot Lake was originally located, the Haunted Castle, and new corrupted areas where the runes were placed.
Why it matters: Just when you think you've got the ideal Fortnite Battle Royale strategy figured out, Epic drops a new update that radically alters how the game is played.
The trailer for Fortnite Season 6 has revealed that Loot Lake had a pretty big eruption, resulting in the cube lifting the island (complete with house) to float it above the ground. The storm circle has also been tweaked, reducing the wait time for each time the storm shrinks, though increasing the timer slightly during the shrinking phase.
So when will the new Fortnite update arrive today? Console players can now matchmake with other users using similar input devices.
Console players can now choose their own button configurations, and those who play with a keyboard and mouse on PlayStation 4 will be matched with PC players so it's a little fairer for those playing with a controller.
