The Los Angeles Lakers are not wasting any time and are now "moving on" from their home-opener incident with the Houston Rockets. Tensions appeared to ease as Ingram was escorted away by his teammates.
Kiedis' outburst followed an on-court brawl between Paul and Lakers players Rajon Rondo and Brandon Ingram that happened late in the game's fourth quarter. However, in-game footage, you can see Paul wipe his face before confronting Rondo.
Paul wil be out for "poking at and making contact with the face of Rondo, and throwing multiple punches at him".
Rondo received his suspension "for instigating a physical altercation with, and spitting and throwing multiple punches at (Chris) Paul". The league has not made any announcements yet. In what was an eventful night for LA Sports fans (with the Los Angeles Dodgers advancing to the World Series), the Lakers and Rockets put on a show on national television.
A technical foul was immediately issued to Ingram, which is when Paul wandered over in Rondo's direction.
LeBron James of the Lakers and Chris Paul of the Rockets get on with the basketball side of things in the heated clash on Sunday (NZT). However, hard doesn't mean impossible, and the footage from the video shows Rondo appearing to intentionally spit on Paul's face.
"Well, it was better than we expected", Ingram said at the Monday morning shootaround before the Lakers played the San Antonio Spurs.
Now, LeBron James is an NBA superstar (four-time NBA MVP, three-time NBA champion, two-time Olympic gold medalist), a philanthropist, an activist, a businessman and so much more. Players from both teams broke up the fight quickly by separating the players involved, though.
"We try to judge each one of these [incidents] on the merits: who does what, who instigates, how unsafe the situation becomes and is", VanDeWeghe said.
"That's unacceptable", Rockets forward Carmelo Anthony said of Rondo's alleged actions.
