Trump and West sat down for a private dining room lunch of caprese salad with balsamic glaze along with roasted chicken with fingerling potatoes and sautéed asparagus.
On Thursday, West began the much-anticipated sit-down by praising Trump's efforts in North Korea saying, "On day one you solved one of [Obama's] biggest troubles".
West's visit comes after his wife, reality TV star Kim Kardashian, successfully lobbied the president to commute the sentence of Alice Marie Johnson, who had been convicted on drug charges.
He said he was advised not to wear his MAGA hat, although he did not specify by whom: "They tried to scare me to not wear this hat". Trump told reporters at Trump Tower that the they had been "friends for a long time".
Looking at Trump, West added: "You made a Superman cape for me".
Asked about his comments in 2005 that President George W. Bush didn't "care about black people" after Hurricane Katrina, West said that "We need to care about all people" and that he "was programed to think in a victimized mentality".
His stump speech includes repeated boasts about record low unemployment for African Americans and he is touting the need for reform of the prison system, where blacks are about 38 percent of inmates, despite being only 13 percent of the USA population.

West said he spoke with advocates who believe that stop-and-frisk programs, in which police detain and pat down pedestrians without probable cause, harm relationships between city governments and residents.
"I tell you what, that was pretty impressive", Trump said after West had finished speaking.
West warned reporters that he doesn't answer questions in sound bites. With me, at 82 years old, the only thing I could talk about was how to help other people.
