OnePlus has just unveiled the company's newest flagship device, the OnePlus 6T, at its NY launch event named "Unlock the Speed" today. A week later, and we're even more confident that the OnePlus 7 will be OnePlus' first 5G smartphone. The phone also features a 16MP front camera at an aperture rate of f/2.0. If you live in NY, you can, as of now, purchase the phone from T-Mobile's Times Square store. With nearly every other flagship phone nearing the 4000 mAh mark, this is surely a smart upgrade from OnePlus.
OnePlus has partnered with T-Mobile, and there will be a T-Mobile exclusive variant optimized for the carrier. Apart from the headphone jack, another major removal from the OnePlus 6 on the OnePlus 6T is the missing LED notification light - the company says the "lift-up display" will allow users to conveniently read notifications from the lock screen, negating the need for an LED light.
The display also serves as a home for an in-display fingerprint sensor, which is increasingly becoming popular with flagship Android smartphones. What's missing this time is the headphone jack, that has to be dumped in favor of a bigger battery and "screen unlock".
There's also a bigger 3700mAh battery with the new phone, a big bump from the 3300mAh unit on the OnePlus 6. Another highlight upfront is an in-display fingerprint sensor, which OnePlus calls "Screen Unlock". Unfortunately, there's no support wireless charging.
The in-display fingerprint sensor in OnePlus 6T makes it different from other OnePlus devices.
The dual-camera setup at the back includes 16-megapixel + 20-megapixel sensors for great photos. The nightscape mode is preset of how we usually tune our cameras in the pro mode. Further, there's a new Studio Lighting feature developed in collaboration with photographer Kevin Abosch to enhance portraits. That explains OnePlus' approach of promoting the 6T as having a good hardware despite its fair pricing. Right out of the box, the 6T will run Android 9 Pie based on OxygenOS 9.0, but users will receive an update immediately which will bump the version number to OxygenOS 9.0.4. The OnePlus 6T has been available for pre-order on Amazon India for a while, and the device will go on sale starting November 1 on the e-commerce platform as well as OnePlus.in.
The 6GB RAM/128GB storage variant is priced at Rs 37,999, 8/128 variant for Rs 41,999 and the high-end 8/256 for Rs 45,999. While the phone has holes on both sides of the USB Type-C, they are only to maintain design symmetry and shouldn't be misunderstood for dual speakers.
