Amazon and Apple have clashed in the past. Apple beat Wall Street's expectations for quarterly revenue and earnings per share, but shares fell after the company provided weaker-than-expected sales guidance for the holiday quarter and warned that it would stop disclosing how many iPhones it sells each quarter. Those who are now selling Apple products will need to be granted that authorization to continue selling. Much of the Apple offerings on the marketplace came from third-party sellers.
Amazon will start selling these Apple products beginning in the next few weeks in the U.S., U.K., France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Japan and India. Independent sellers with Apple inventory will have their listings removed after January 4, 2019.
Apple also noted that if the iPhone X owner has already replaced the screen prior to the replacement programme, he/she is entitled to get a refund.
The company said affected laptops could be serviced at one of its retail locations or an Apple Authorised Service Provider for free as well.
"Cnet reached out to Amazon for comment regarding why the HomePod isn't listed in this line-up, and the company responded by stating that it "[makes] assortment decisions all the time, based on terms and a large number of other factors".
"We're working with Amazon to improve the experience for Apple customers on their site and we look forward to those customers having another great way to buy iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, Mac and more", Apple said in a statement.
The email also noted that sellers will also not be able to send shipments of these products to Amazon fulfillment centers from December 1, 2018. That may sound tiny compared to Amazon, but it's impressive when you consider Apple is selling a very limited selection of products.
