Setting the tone for the four-match Test series that gets underway on Thursday, Paine said the Australian team, still recovering from the furore of the ball-tampering scandal, has identified the areas that needed some changes.
India have never won a Test series in Australia and their recent oversees record has also been poor with 1-2 loss to South Africa in February and 1-4 defeat to England in September.
When is Australia vs India taking place? .
Captain Tim Paine said Marsh's omission was due to a lack of consistency and he would benefit from returning to Sheffield Shield cricket to find form again.
"Mitch Marsh probably hasn't been as consistent as he would like and we would like", Paine said. This has meant a recall for Peter Handscomb in the middle order, handing Victoria three spots in the same Australian batting line-up for the first time since Bill Lawry, Ian Redpath and Keith Stackpole in the 1970-71 Ashes.
"I personally don't think any Australian side is vulnerable at home", Kohli said.
"The [Adelaide] wicket over the last few years here has given enough throughout the game [to not need an allrounder]".
Paine predicted that Australia's three premium quicks and champion off-spinner Nathan Lyon would be able to carry the attack at Adelaide against an Indian batting line-up that is one of the strongest to visit Aust-ralia.
"We know the talent Mitch has".
"It's unlikely that we will use the three quicks throughout the whole series as much as we will in this game".
"Travis Head bowls some handy off spinners so we have options there but we'll be backing our bowlers", he said. Especially in this kind of situation where two of their best batsman have scored literally 50 percent of their runs for Australia are not a part of the playing eleven and they haven't really done well since they have left Test cricket.
"We've obviously got a lot of confidence in Nathan Lyon bowling a lot of overs if we need him to".
"That's why I feel that India have got a big chance because they are a settled unit and they will be confident".
