The electronics giant unveiled the product in an event called "Samsung First Look 2019" on Sunday in Las Vegas, two days ahead of the annual Consumer Electronics Show.
In the display industry, experts say that Samsung's 75-inch micro LED screen signaled the start of the full-fledged micro-LED display era.
"Bringing more content, value and open platform functionality to Samsung TV owners and Apple customers through iTunes and AirPlay is ideal for everyone", says Won-Jin Lee, Executive Vice President, Service Business of Visual Display at Samsung Electronics.
Samsung is pushing its MicroLED and QLED TVs together - the former targeting the super-high end and the latter for the high-end - to compete against rival LG's OLED TVs.
The new Micro LED TV pushes the limits of traditional televisions, with its self-emissive technology and modular capabilities.
"These transformative TV displays are made up of individual modules of self-emissive Micro LEDs, featuring millions of inorganic red, green and blue microscopic LED chips that emit their own light to produce brilliant colors on screen - delivering unmatched picture quality that surpasses any display technology now available on the market", Samsung said Monday in a statement.
The modular nature of Micro LED allows manufacturer to split the screen into multiple module sizes so that users can build their own display according to their requirements. By adding MicroLED modules, users can expand their display to any size they desire.
Samsungs MicroLED technology also optimizes the content no matter the size and shape of the screen. A 75-inch micro LED screen delivers more than four times the resolution of a 146-inch "The Wall" screen as the size and space of the diodes get smaller in a small screen. It can support the standard 16:9 content to 21:9 widescreen videos and images and even the not-so-natural aspect ratios like 32:9 and 1:1. The possibilities for eye-catching designs are enhanced by new Ambient Mode features. Samsung inspires the world and shapes the future with transformative ideas and technologies.
