Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is the 29-young old from the Bronx who has the inspiring story of making it from bartender to lawmaker.
Ocasio-Cortez's latest failure in trying to explain how she'll pay for her programs comes a day after she attacked Rep. Steve Scalise (R-LA) for, as she claimed, not knowing how marginal tax rates work.
Her proposal to increase taxes on the wealthy to fund her Green New Deal, which aims to eliminate carbon emissions in the United States within 12 years, was highly criticized.
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez was sworn into Congress on Thursday - but later, the New York Democrat was inducted into an even more exclusive body: the "Breakfast Club".
"Wait till they find out Congresswomen dance too!"
"You look at our tax rates back in the 60s and when you have a progressive tax rate system, your tax rate, let's say, from zero to $75,000 may be 10 percent or 15 percent, et cetera", Ocasio-Cortez said.
"If that's what radical means, then call me a radical", Ocasio-Cortez said, when questioned about her "radical agenda".
The trolling intended as a "gotcha" moment for the NY politician - who was sworn in to Congress Thursday, becoming the legislative body´s youngest woman ever - instead saw social media turn the video into a comical meme. They resort to jackets and college videos to show that people like Ocasio-Cortez should not have a place in Washington. "But it means that as you climb up this ladder you should be contributing more". In 2011, she graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in global relations.
"It is not normal for elected officials to have a reputation for dancing well and I'm happy to be one", she told The Hill. The self-described Democratic Socialist nicknamed AOC suggested taxing the ultra-wealthy up to 70 per cent in order to finance the plan.
Her idea of radical is to make the U.S. a Socialist State.
"Don't hate me cause you ain't me, fellas", she responded.
