Late Monday night during the College Football Playoff National Championship game between the Alabama Crimson Tide and the Clemson Tigers, Marvel Studios dropped a special-look trailer for Captain Marvel.
The film follows Carol Danvers as she becomes one of the universe's most powerful heroes when Earth is caught in the middle of a galactic war between two alien races. However, before she can fight Thanos, we will see her fight against Skrulls. The trailer also references the film's period setting, the 1990s, as Fury notes to Danvers, "Grunge is a good look on you".
Brie Larson (Captain Marvel/Carol Danvers): The fact that she is just herself, and can not be contained, is pretty awesome. Directed by Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck, the cast of the film also includes Djimon Hounsou, Rune Temte, Mckenna Grace, Gemma Chan, Ben Mendelsohn and Annette Bening.
Plus, with tickets now on sale, there are a few cool new posters specific to different formats.
Is Jackson Confused? Or Does He Just Know More Than We Do? It's a perfectly timed preamble to Avengers: Endgame, in which Captain is poised to play a large part in the narrative, hopefully rescuing nearly everyone from Thanos' snap.
"She's pretty much the strongest character - in terms of someone with powers are able to do things - in the Marvel universe". Apparently, Captain Marvel is "just the beginning". Jackson, who plays a younger version of Nick Fury in the new movie, says Captain Marvel (Brie Larson) can time travel. "I'm excited, and it's not just the marquee names you know - there are hundreds of names on those documents, on those agreements".
Schwartz: It really is a self-contained story, and it will tell you everything about that character who shows up in Avengers: Endgame.
Since then, Marvel has rejigged its plans, and with the studio seemingly in no hurry to bring in another director - and Dave Bautista stating that it's "on permanent hold" - there has been some speculation that Guardians Vol. 3 may go the way of the planned Inhumans movie.
Captain Marvel hits theatres on March 8.
